I enjoy and love nature through and through. There is a set of emotions induced and describable only by nature, something that can be experienced exclusively when hearing the wind whisper in the leaves, smelling the grass and feeling the cold soil. And for me Claude Cormier challenges that. The superficial but not fake was one of his concepts which struck me the most and it took me a couple of his projects explained to understand it as far as I could. What made his superficial creations not fake was their functionality, they functioned as nature does to a certain extent. Claude Cormier makes landscape architecture not about nature, but about people in it. His goal is not to create a nature but to create the effect nature has on people. That is what I made from the lecture and some of his ideas will definitely be stuck with me for a good while.
